Instructor Bio

Dr. Vanessa Benavent, DDS, MSD, FAGD

Dr. Vanessa Benavent is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.  She is also a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.

She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2009, pursued a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore, and then completed a two-year Master’s program in Orofacial Pain at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers School of Dental Medicine) in 2012. 

She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD), served as Clinical Director of the UMSOD Brotman Orofacial Pain Clinic, and has a private practice limited to orofacial pain, TMJ disorders, and dental sleep medicine.  Dr. Benavent is on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, is a member of the Council of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, and is President-Elect of the Maryland State Dental Association.
