Dr. Matilda Dhima DMD, MS

Matilda Dhima obtained her doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is a prosthodontist and maxillofacial prosthodontist trained at the Mayo Clinic where she also obtained a Master’s degree in biomedical science with a focus on ceramic materials. During her time at the Mayo Clinic, she was recognized for her contributions to patient care, education and research with an appointment as Assistant Professor.Dr. Dhima has been recognized with several international awards for her contributions to the science and teaching of prosthodontics. She has written several articles on modern ceramic materials and restoration design research which has been supported by several international organizations and recognized with several awards. She is an expert in ceramic material selections and designs focusing on predictable treatment outcomes and bridging bench studies with clinical applications. Dr. Dhima’s clinical and research work also focuses on her expertise on quality-of-life improvement and treatment outcomes for patients with acquired and congenital head and neck defects. She has published several landmark articles on modern multidisciplinary management of head and neck defects including several book chapters on novel and modern treatments for head and neck cancer patients. Her work and collaborations continue to change how dentistry and medicine integrate to improve patients’ lives. She lectures on these topics in national and international venues.She is a member of several international organizations and an editorial board member of, among others, the Journal of Prosthodontics and Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.Dr. Dhima has received several honors including the Tylman Research Award and the Colgate Research Award. She also has been awarded research grants from the Academy of Prosthodontists and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
